Walking from the high-end shopping street of Parizska, the relatively small Jewish Quarter will allow you to adore the beauty of several synagogues, built in various architectural styles. Starting with the Old New Synagogue, Europe’s oldest active synagogue from the 13th century, you will then continue to the largest, the Klausen Synagogue. In the Pinkas synagogue, you will visit the holocaust memorial and you will have the opportunity of paying your respect to the victims of the Shoah. From there, you will explore the recently reconstructed Maisel Synagogue and the newest Spanish Synagogue in Moorish revival style.
Visiting the Old Jewish Cemetery is an unforgettable experience. It is ranked among the top 10 most interesting cemeteries in the world and Umberto Eco even named one of his books after it. Learn about its fascinating history and see the unique gravestone formations for yourself, continuing to the beautiful building of Jewish Ceremonial Hall with its exposition on rituals held over the dying and the deceased. The exploration of Prague’s Jewish heritage ends at the house and statue of Franz Kafka, the world-famous Jewish writer.
